LaundryTimer

Reminders for your laundry. Avoid forgetting, wrinkles, and shrinkage.

Get Organized

Create timers for each step of your laundry. When that cycle starts, start your timer. It keeps time while you do other things.

Timers and Alarms

Timers count down and, at completion, fire an alarm and notification. You immediately know to retrieve it and move to next step.

Avoid Problems

Never forget your laundry. Avoid having it sit too long in the washer (mildew), dryer (wrinkles / shrink), or just losing time!

Organized timers

Households generally have multiple routines of laundry: personal, kids, delicates, bedding, towels. Each routine (e.g. kids) can have multiple loads (e.g. darks / colors). Create a cycle (e.g. wash / dry) for each that tracks timing and alerts you.

Notifications when done

After setting a timer, you can relax and focus on other things during the cycle. At completion, your alarm will alert you that the cycle has completed, allowing you to quickly return to the laundry and move it to the next step.

Frequently asked questions

How does the app organize my laundry?

The general organization is: routine, load, and cycle. A routine is a group of laundry you do periodically. In our house, these are "Evan", "wife", "kids", "bedding", and "towels". Each routine can have multiple loads: my laundry has "darks", "colors", and "whites". Each load usually has 2 cycles: wash and dry. For each, I set a timer given how long my washer or dryer takes for that type of clothing.

How do I get started?

LaundryTimer is ready for you out of the box. Simply launch the app, allow notifications (for alarms), and a basic routine is seeded for you. This provides a quick understanding of how the app works. Feel free to edit, rename, or delete it! Creating any object is very simple.

Can I set multiple timers?

Yes! And I often do. The main use case is you have i) wash and ii) dry running simultaneously, and both must be tracked. But an even better use case is for Laundromats. There, you may have 3 wash and 3 dry cycles going at once, and LaundryTimer tracks them all.

What is a Quick Timer?

This is simply a "one-off" or "ad-hoc" alarm. Set it from the home page whenever you need it. Maybe you are doing a special load or a situation occurred. No need to create a whole new routine, just set a quick timer for what you need and do something fun.

Why did you create LaundryTimer?

I was always forgetting my laundry and needed a reminder. Given 3 loads each with 2 cycles, that was 6 completions I would often miss. We turn off the loud buzzer on our washer / dryer as they are annoying. I was tired of missing a completion that would cause a delay or shrink my clothes. Setting a phone timer for each cycle was doable but annoying. I figured a simple app would be great and other people would find it useful. Roughly everyone in the world is doing laundry at some point!
